Our Sigma Kappa founders left us with a lasting impression of the importance of philanthropy. Service is one of Sigma Kappa's founding values, and as such, members of Sigma Kappa support multiple philanthropic causes.
Walk to End Alzheimer's
We Participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer's every year at Buhl Park in lovely Hermitage, PA. We begin fundraising in April and continue through the summer to support the annual walk in September. We have been previously recognized as the top fundraising team and have raised over $4,000 for the walk! We love to volunteer every year by assisting with setup, passing out shirts, and putting flowers together for the promise garden!
Every year we hold our annual Pierogi Dinner, which is a campus and family favorite! We sell tickets leading up to the event and serve delicious pierogies for all to enjoy! We also feature a silent auction and have Alzheimer's merchandise available for sale.
Every semester we participate in Adopt-a-Highway, which benefits our national philanthropy, Inherit the Earth. We have so much fun keeping Pennsylvania beautiful!
In the fall, we host our annual Sigma Stacks event for the campus! We make and deliver late-night pancakes to all those who order, and we have so much fun doing it! It is definitely a favorite on campus!
Throughout the academic year, we spend a lot of time volunteering for St. Paul's Senior Living Community in Greenville, PA, located right down the road from our campus. We host bingo and are trained to work directly with the Alzheimer's patients.
